Constitution of 1931

The issue that concerns us today is the recently approved Constitution of the Spanish Republic.
During the last years Spain has suffered a series of political and economic changes, this democratization and modernization has awakened the hopes of the different layers of the Spanish population. This has led to the triumph of Republican candidacies in the big cities which has led to the proclamation of the Republic on April 14 since King Alfonoso XIII was isolated and without support so he decided to go into exile.

In June of this year the elections to Constituent Cortes took place in an atmosphere of relative tranquility. The polls gave a clear majority of the Republican-Socialist coalition, and finally the new Constitution was tested in December.
The most important features of our new Constitution are:

To be a democratic Republic of workers of all kinds.
Universal suffrage male and female.
Declaration of rights and freedoms, among which are the divorcee, right to education, equal legitimate and illegitimate children.
Regarding the powers of the State:
Legislative power in unicameral Cortes.
Executive power: The President of the Republic.
Judicial power in the hands of the courts of justice.

For the first time in our history, the right of the regions to establish Statutes of Autonomy is established.

With regard to the "religious question" a secular state is established: Separation of Church and State Disappeared the budget of cult and clergy Prohibition of exercising education Freedom of conscience and cults.
This is intended to be the Constitution of all Spaniards.
We can be proud of our new Constitution.
