Story 1:

Who is involved?

Dr.Joe Donzelli and his daughter Julia

 

What happened to them?

They traveled to Punta Cana for a school trip but they stayed in a high-end resort, later they started to visit touristic places. When they arrived in the USA, they felt sick, they had fever, body aches, fatigue, chills and sweats; so they decided to go to the hospital where they were tested and went through some exams. There, the doctors said to them that they probably had a virus or Dengue fever. Few days later, the condition of the girl changed, her temperature increased and her blood pressure decreased. Julia was hospitalized and she received some treatment, and her doctor called Joe saying that Julia had severe malaria uncomplicated malaria. 10 days later she got better and she received physical treatment, finally she was cured and her father too.

In April 2018

How did they survive the pandemic?

Receiving treatments, medicines, faith.

 

Story 2:

Who is involved?

Brett Becker  Dr. Alvaro Lopez

What happened to them?

Brett traveled to Uganda to help some children with extreme poverty, later he arrived to Usa without symptoms. 2 weeks later he started to have a lot of fevers; his pediatrician gave him Doxycycline to prevent the malaria, but he didn't remember it. Brett`s ,mom took him to the hospital, the doctors did the test but the results only came out within 2 days. That was very awful for him because he felt very sick; the doctors thought that he has Ebola, but finally another test showed that he has 0.1% of paristemia. As a treatment that he received was oral medication (Doxycycline). His mom was scared about the health of ker son so he found a doctor that accepted him to do tests and save him, his name is Dr. Alvaro Lopez. Finally he was cured,  brain damage and kidney failure. Now he is a freshman college and a person with good heart and health.

Summer of 2014
