Autumn is a term that has its origin in the Latin word autumnus. The concept allows to name the season that, according to astronomy, begins with the autumnal equinox and extends until the winter solstice.
In the southern hemisphere, fall begins on March 21 and ends on June 21, when winter begins. In the Northern Hemisphere, on the other hand, fall runs from September 21 to December 21. The order of the seasons is as follows: autumn-winter-spring-summer, a cycle that repeats itself all over the planet.
Autumn is characterized by the fall of the leaves of those trees that are part of the deciduous group. Trees of this type, unlike perennials, renew their leaves every year. With the arrival of autumn, therefore, the leaves take on a yellowish or brownish color and fall to the ground once they are dry. During the winter, deciduous trees remain “bare” and only return to display their foliage in the spring.
