Xilena Gonzalez is 22 years old. She was 10 when the ugliest tragedy of her life happened.
One day she was in the house of her grandfather who lives in the outside part of the city. Soon, Xilena saw a group of soldiers coming. That´s what She thought. All of a sudden, those people forced her to go with them without anyone noticing any. They pointed a gun at her head and threatened her. They walked for a long time. To take her to the jungle, where they had camps full of weapons.
She did not know what was happening until a girl, Lina was her name, came and told her that the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia had kidnapped them.
She could not believe it. She became her sister because they had to spend a lot of time, doing different things together. They were exposed to situations that would never had imagined living.
At the age of twenty, they were tired of living in such situations. Then, the idea of escaping came. In the big day they were about to be discovered but managed to escape and thanks God, the authorities were very kind to them.
They could finally rebuild their lives and get ahead.
When she was a child, Xilena´s dream was to be a presenter at T.V. news and now she´s studying Journalism and has a small television program with Lina, her sister, which is called “Interviewing celebrities”. She is gradually fulfilling her dream, overpassing each day more and forgetting the past.
This is why today I want to tell you not to give up and never, never forget that everything is possible.
