This artificial intelligence already presents the news in China

The fight to lead the development of Artificial Intelligence is open, and China is very well placed, as evidenced by its latest milestone: to put an Artificial Intelligence to present the news. It has been achieved by the Xinhua agency, the government official.

For the work they have counted on the collaboration of Sogou, the private company behind one of the most popular search engines in the Asian country. Between them, they have managed to create an AI with a human aspect that presents the news in a very similar way to what a flesh-and-blood presenter would do.

Of course it is obvious that it is an AI and not a person. In addition, it not only imitates the gestures of a human being but also feeds on videos and texts to produce news and labels on the fly.

The aspect of the AI ​​has been recreated virtually in the image and likeness of a real person, with the difference that its "robotic" version is able to be permanently on the air without tiring or losing tone.

The most obvious problem of this type of project is on the side of the public, which will probably have a hard time creating emotional and trusting links towards something that is nothing more than software. However, this may change in the medium term.

Is this the future of 24-hour news channels? It is still to be verified, although the technical achievement is undoubted.
