Suffixes
The Latin word suffixus derived in suffix, a concept used in grammar to name the affix that is added at the end of a word. An affix, meanwhile, is a linguistic sequence that alters the meaning of a term.
Suffixes, therefore, are affixes that are postponed, unlike prefixes (which are placed ahead of the word). This means that the suffix is ​​located after the root or the lexeme.
Suffixes are added at the end of an existing word. For example:

The addition of a suffix often changes a word from one word class to another. In the table above, the verb like becomes the adjective sympathetic, the noun idol becomes the verb idolize and the noun child becomes the adjective child.
