Although the first ten races of Formula 1 were cancelled or deferred due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the new season’s beginning date is expected to be on the 5th of July, in the Austria Grand Prix. The F1 committee anticipates to celebrate around s16 races out of a total of 22.
A possible way to recover the time lost, is to spend consecutive weekends at the same racing tracks, like the Red Bull Ring, in Spielberg. The Formula 1 general manager, Ross Brawn, said that this could be a real consideration as long as the necessary protocols were accomplished.
“We could keep everybody in the same environment, then, once we get there, it would be attractive to have another Grand Prix the next week” said on a F1 official Podcast.
Personally speaking, I consider a risk to restart the F1 competitions by the first week of July; additionally. Lots of countries have been extending their lockdowns. Anyway, I expect the committee to make wise decisions and also hope that the season begins as soon as possible.
