Sustainable energy

Sustainable energy offers additional benefits to the kilowatts (kW) and kilowatt-hours (kWh) they produce, as they include the creation of new jobs, a cleaner means of generation and energy security, among others. In view of this, most countries of the Development Cooperation Organization Economic (OECD) and several developing nations have set targets for renewable energy in their energy plans.

According to specialists, this energy can be divided into two large groups: the non-polluting or clean and the polluting. Among the first, we can mention:

• Solar energy
• Wind energy, which is obtained from the force of wind currents
• Hydraulic energy, which is obtained by storing the energy contained in the currents of rivers and dams
• Tidal energy, which is obtained by storing the energy contained in seas and oceans
• Geothermal energy, which is achieved by taking advantage of the Earth's heat
• And the wave wave, which is achieved by taking advantage of the force with which the waves are generated

For its part, the second group, polluting energies which are the ones that are really sustainable, are obtained from organic matter or biomass, and can be used directly as fuel wood or other solid plant matter, either converted into bioethanol or biogas, through various processes of organic fermentation or biodiesel, through transesterification reactions and urban waste.

It should be noted that these energies the pollutants have the same problem as the energy produced by fossil fuels: in combustion they emit carbon dioxide, greenhouse gas, and are often more polluting since combustion is not as clean, emitting soot and other solid particles. However, they fall within the group of renewable energies because the emitted carbon dioxide can be used, in a second moment or generation, as organic matter.
