THE USSR VETOES FIFTY PAINTINGS BY SPANISH PAINTERS

Spain renounced the transfer of paintings for an exhibition of Spanish painting in the Soviet Union to veto this country the sending of fifty of the eighty works proposed. Apparently, the USSR requested a long time from the Spanish Government the necessary tables to organize a sample that Was titled Realism in current Spanish painting.
The photographers of the eighty works that Spain was planning to send were then sent to the organizers of the exhibition. The Soviet response was that only thirty of the selected ones could be exhibited, in view of which the Spanish Government waived the sending of any pictures. Among the fifty vetoed works were those of Salvador Dali.
