Information and Communications Technology (ICT) “can impact student learning when teachers are digitally literate and understand how to integrate it into the curriculum.” Schools use a diverse set of ICT tools to communicate, create, disseminate, store, and manage information. In some contexts, ICT has also become integral to the teaching-learning interaction, through such approaches as replacing chalkboards with interactive digital whiteboards, using students’ own smartphones or other devices for learning during class time, and the “flipped classroom” model where students watch lectures at home on the computer and use classroom time for more interactive exercises.

Digital culture and digital literacy. Computer technologies and other aspects of digital culture have changed the ways people live, work, play, and learn, impacting the construction and distribution of knowledge and power around the world. Graduates who are less familiar with digital culture are increasingly at a disadvantage in the national and global economy.

Advances in technology and improved accessibility have improved the level of resources available to many classrooms, it has not made the act of learning a language easier. Students are, however, given access to almost infinite learning materials, which compliments their efforts in the classroom. Integrating technology in a classroom helps students think more critically. It encourages them to question what they are learning with access to a “wider range of opinion”.

Technology plays a massive part in day to day life for so many of us, which only asserts the use of technology in English language teaching and learning. Technology fascinates us and engages us. Encouraging students to take part is arguably the most important part of any lesson plan, incorporating technology could be the element that transforms a dull lesson into a captivating one.

The most important ICT that all schools and teachers must use are:

- Computer-based learning: Computer-based learning is one of the modules of school communication tools that help students to enhance their learning skills through computer-aided education. It imparts computer knowledge to students and enables them to obtain large amounts of information from various websites.

- Internet: Internet tools like Email, social networks, newsgroups, and video transmission have connected the world like never before. Students can now communicate using emails and social networking groups that provide knowledge-based information. Distance learning, online learning is also enabled through the internet. Students can learn online and also talk to experts online.

- Classroom Learning: With the introduction of ICT in education, classroom learning is one attribute that makes learning experiential and experimental to students. Students can listen to the instructor or teacher, receive visual cues through PowerPoint images, handouts, or whiteboard lists, and participate actively.

- Video conferencing: This is yet another medium of communication wherein students can communicate with other students or instructors online. It enables students to become active participants in their own learning. Video Conferencing is a powerful communication tool that has the potential to change the way we deliver information to students.

The past examples must be implemented in all the schools, so in this way, students will be more efficient studying and learning while teachers can teach with these resources in many ways.

It's important to know more about ITC. The impact that has on our society is huge, if we don´t know how to use them we won't progress in our jobs or school, they are very easy to use and learn about them fast and simple.
