Metrology is very important. After all, it can help the studies carried out by toxicology because it is known that there are physicochemical properties that affect the results of toxicology; That is to say, that with this it was sought to have standards and thus be able to define and classify the toxins found in nanomaterials.

The parameters that were used to start classifying were:

  1. Surface area.
  2. Elemental composition.
  3. Particle size.
  4. Particle size distribution.
  5. Pontencial zeta and cristinalidad.

To reach this point, a long journey was taken to reach a kind of improvement, to have standards for orientation in the moments of study. An important event is that since 2008 more than 10 nanoparticle references have been incorporated.


This can make better decisions about improving exposure in the workplace and thus can support the study of toxicology.
